Adele & Andy – When I Look at You

Adele and Andy are a husband-and-wife duo hailing from Staffordshire in the UK. If you haven’t heard of them yet, you soon will.
The duo has been bouncing around the country scene in the UK since 2020 and have a string of successes with their earlier releases.
The subject matter for the song ‘When I Look at You’ is that of an individual whose life isn’t going well until they meet their true love. Although a great subject matter, the song has a slightly flat feeling to it (mood, not musical) and leaves me wanting more.
They have a very distinct style which is cemented by Adele’s vocals. She has a unique style and tone giving the duo their very own identity.
Their latest single (release date 20th May 2022) holds true to that identity, the vocals have power and clarity. The instrumentation, whilst not overpowering, gives the song the background melody. Controlled by drums and guitar, with hints of banjo clear, it holds together well.
It’s a well-constructed song and very listenable, and yet there just feels like something is missing.
‘When I look at you’ is from the duo’s new EP ‘Scars.’ The title track from the EP has already been released and has more to it than this tune.
